My body was telling me I needed a change.

Written by Jenny O’Connell, Co-Founder of SISTERLY.

I was a barrister for 20 years and took on a major career pivot as a result of feeling sick of being sick! I’d had a busy but stressful career, an obsession with endurance sports and a love of margaritas (I never know when to go to bed) but modern life takes its toll. I got sick a lot - chest infections, strep throats and constant bugs - and I managed my health with antibiotics and steroids.

I finally sat up and paid attention when three rounds of covid and a dose of shingles floored me.  I felt so weak and just wanted something to make my body work again. I had completed an Ironman and swam across Lake Geneva but I wasn’t managing my own health properly -  I really wanted to figure out a better way to support my body.

I think as women we are always juggling - kids, aging parents, careers, our hormonal cycle and the pressure to look the part. It’s a lot. Two of my closest friends (now my fellow Co-Founders, Aoife Matthews  and Louise O’Riordan) and I were on a Zoom call one day moaning about how difficult it was to navigate supplements and to differentiate the good from the bad so we decided to solve a problem for ourselves. We pulled together a crack team of experts to do the research and develop a female specific formulation that would be effective and show results.  The result is The Elevator, the best of everything in a simple powder sachet.

We made The Elevator for our mothers, sisters, girlfriends and ourselves so only the best would do. When you’re doing something for your nearest and dearest, you just don’t compromise or take short cuts.

Of course I miss my GP, he was a lovely man, but we just don’t need to see each other so much anymore!

Aoife, Louise and I took a jump; a leap of faith, because we knew together, we could make something better that really works for women.

Jackie’s Top Tips to Surviving Christmas!

Greetings from MoM Towers, where our thoughts are currently turning towards the C word. Still too early? Who cares? I’m going to put it out there and be controversial.

I don’t really like Christmas.

Glycerin – A Closer Look

Written by Dr Dhesi, Clinical Lead - Made Of More.

As a General Practitioner and aesthetic doctor with a special interest in women’s health, I understand the concerns many have about using glycerin in intimate products. Discussions around glycerin often evoke strong opinions, particularly when it comes to vaginal health, due to past studies and anecdotal reports. However, as with any health-related topic, it’s essential to assess the evidence carefully, considering the quality of research and the contexts in which certain findings were obtained.

Because hormones don’t just affect the skin on your face

Made Of More launches the Intimate Serum

It’s time to change the narrative

We speak to women on a daily basis about the impact changing hormones have on their skin, but not just on their faces. Vaginal dryness and similar hormone-related effects can be an uncomfortable topic but nevertheless it happens and at Made Of More we are helping to solve it rather than shy away from it.
